Steven Allen Barr was born in Mesa, Arizona, on October 1, 1954, and entered into rest on September 12, 2017.

Steve attended Mesa schools and graduated from Westwood High School in 1972. He went on to Mesa Community College and Reformed Episcopal Seminary in Philadelphia. After graduation, Steve and Janet were married in Mesa, in August of 1978.

Steve’s working career began in retail and construction. After graduation from Ottawa University he also worked in education, manufacturing, and transportation. Along with his many interests and abilities, Steve had a strong work ethic and good health. He rarely took a sick day.

As a young man Steve was challenged to put his faith in Jesus Christ for forgiveness of sins and hope for eternal life. His faith was bolstered by teaching on the book of Genesis and creation. Steve was such a wonderful man of God who touched countless lives. What a tender heart he had! Our families have a lot of treasured memories together. If you are interested in some pics we have of Steve, let me know. I would be happy to share them. I (Kim) won’t be able to make the memorial service as I am hosting a baby shower at the same time with the other grandmas for Klint and Jayne’s 1st baby. I’m can’t tell you how sad I am I can’t be there! 🙁 It breaks my heart! But Greg plans to be there so I hope it you know how much we care. If someone plans to videotape the service, I would love to see it later. If there is an open house later, I would like to attend. We love you all SO much. Our prayers are with you and we deeply share your sorrow. 🙁
Hugs to all of you! <3

  3. Pat and Patti Higeboom says:

We were blessed and better for having met Steve in 1978 and be in his/ and Janet’s small group for Bible Study.

  4. Jim &Karen Vanderjagt says:

When we thought about Steve, we always thought about his positivity and steadfastness to His Lord. He was always so active and full of life, he probably is right now freed from the shackles of life on this earth. He was a great listener and his comments in a conversation were not dominating but thoughtful and caring. Look forward to seeing him again in Glory!

  5. Jeanette Graham says:

I only met Steve and his family about 4 times in the 30 years that i knew him, but he and Janet sure make you feel welcomed. The first time I met him was at our wedding almost 31 years ago. He flew out to NJ just to be with his good friend Keith and watch him get married. Wow! The last time we saw Steve and his family was spring 2015 when we spent a week or so with them, What a great couple. We visited the Grand Canyon together, and Steve and Janet planned a great trip Steve driving all around the great state of Arizona while playing a word game. I will always remember his great smile, and his love for the Lord and his family. I too will look forward to seeing him again in Glory.

  6. Socorro says:

David, I read about your Dad and I am sad and sorry for your loss. I remember him as always kind and thoughtful to us. He enjoyed his family because he laughed and seemed happy around you. Visiting your home was delightful. You had music, dance, sports, politics, and friends were drawn together.

  7. Don Sweetser says:

There is a clear sharp image of Steve in my mind from time spend at Church of the Redeemer. He was our son Dale’s first Youth Group leader. I pray for the Comfort of the knowledge of Christ Jesus to uphold all the family.

  8. David Wiggs says:

What a comfort when you know that your friend now has a new home in heaven. Having lost Sande nearly two years ago that was and still is a comfort for me. May God hold you in His everlasting arms in the days ahead.

  9. Lorita Hunter says:

I have not been touch with this wonderful family for a long time . I give my love to all of the Barr family .
