Thomas Francis Beagen Jr., 71, passed away peacefully in his home in the presence of loved ones on Monday evening, April 10th, 2017. Tom was born in Providence, Rhode Island on July 21st, 1945 to Thomas Francis Beagen Sr. and Margaret Susan Beagen. He has four siblings: Geraldine Denton, Arline Overson, Robert Beagen, and William Beagen. He is survived by his wife Ruth Beagen, daughters Brenda Overson and Kacie Redmond, son Bradley Dunagan, and his five grandchildren Lavoy, Devlynn, Dylan, Jager, and Cruz. Tom and Ruth were married on April 21st, 1984, and on this day Tom embraced Bradley and Brenda as his own. Tom and Ruth’s first child Kacie was born on February 22nd, 1985, an important milestone in Tom’s life.
Tom was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan and anyone close to him knew it immediately. Tom took immense pride in his work and enjoyed a successful career in sales. When he wasn’t busy providing for his family, he loved watching sports, playing golf, learning, traveling, and laughing with close friends and loved ones. Despite his medical hurdles, he courageously lived a full life and traveled the world with his family. Unlike many of us, Tom always appreciated the little things in life, and it was in these little moments, he found great joy with a “twinkle in his eye and a feather on his nose.”
He will be dearly missed.
Memorial services will be held Saturday April 15th 9:30am, at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery in Mesa, AZ.
Donations can be made in his name to Hospice of the Valley.
Marty and I will miss Tom so very much as he has been a part of our lives for over 34 years. Tom always made us feel so special and always had a personal family related greeting to give us.
He has taught us truly what it means to have endurance and to never give up in whatever obstacles we may face.
We know we will see him again in heaven so look forward to this.
Rest in Peace precious Tom
I love you, Dad. You are my hero. I miss you everyday. Every moment I spent with you is deeply cherished in my heart. You were simply the best Dad ever and I’m so thankful for the time we had together. I hope that you are happy, at peace, and watching over me so that I can dial “B” for “Beagen” into guardian angel realm. Thank you for the twinkle in my eye, feather on my nose, and the wish (demand?) that God carries me in the hollow of his hand. I wish the same for you in heaven sweet Daddio. I will keep a watchful eye on the Red Sox and your golf clubs down here. <3 <3 <3
Your love and example will influence my decisions each and every day for the rest of my life. Losing you has been a devastating experience of which I'm not sure exactly how I'll recover, however, I have learned something from this. It's so like you to teach me something up until the last second. Please know your influence continues to shape me even though we're not together anymore my greatest teacher of thought, questions, rhetoric, writing, humor, humanity, and the world. It's almost frustrating to put you into words because words aren't enough.
I love you. Those are the only words that seem to fit. I love you.
Very sincerely and with all my love,
Your Kacie
I am sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. I wish I would have known earlier. Tom taught me many things and was a mentor to me in many ways. He will be missed.
Love you grandpa!
