Violet Kuechenberg, age 92, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018. She was born on January 5, 1926 in Gary, Indiana to Luigi and Anna Graziani and was the youngest of three daughters. She spent her life living in Indiana, Florida, and Arizona where she lived for the last twenty plus years. During her time in Indiana and Florida she worked as a bank teller. She loved deep sea fishing, line dancing, her Catholic faith, and most importantly her family. Even in her late 80’s it was not uncommon for her to travel by herself somewhere, even if her luggage was almost as tall as she was. What she lacked in height she more than made up for in energy and personality, as she never met a stranger and loved talking and learning about people. She is survived by four daughters and two son-in-laws, Cassie and Cliff Richeson, Debbie Mundell, Gale and Wes Fellows, and Shelley Mundell; eight grandchildren, Renee Richeson, Tami Richeson, Cliff Richeson Jr., Mandy Pope, Frank Fellows, Justin Iseminger, Matt Iseminger, and Christa Iseminger; 11 great grandchildren, Trevor Jackson, Jared Jackson, Isabella Richeson, Albert Gonzales, David Gonzales, Matthew Pope, Ashley Pope, Kenny Richeson, Emma Richeson, Sydney Fellows, and Payton Fellows, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at the Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetary at 7900 East Main Street, Mesa on Monday, January 15 from 4-7 PM. The rosary will be at 6 PM. The funeral will be held on Tuesday at All Saints Catholic Church in Mesa, with Mass at 10:30 AM, then internment at Mountain View Cemetery. A lunch will be served at All Saints Catholic Church immediately after the internment.
An amazing lady who who will be missed.
Deepest sympathy to her friends and family
I remember her kindness when I often visited Cassie’s home during our elementary and high school years. She always made me feel welcome and included me in so many activities. She was a lovely lady and I know she will be deeply missed. Our hearts go out to her lovely family.
Vi became my step mother when she married my father, Wilmer Kuechenberg in the 1970’s and she quickly became a friend and then a life long friend. Whether when my husband Bob and I with or without my sisters Janet and Jill went to visitor them in Melbourne, Florida or when they came down to Fort Lauderdale to see us, we always had a wonderful time. We would always do something. Take a long ride, go to the beach, go out for a nice lunch or she would cook us a wonderful meal. Although they went their separate ways the friendship between all of us always remained the same. Even after she moved to Arizona, she would come for visits. I am so glad when Bob and I had our RV for a year or two that we went to see her in 2015. She still had her wonderful home; with everything in it’s place and just looking so beautiful. During our time there she showed us where she was going line dancing at the time and at 88? years old went to a western town with old gold mines with us and outlasted me (and I’m in my 60’s!) One of my favorite sayings from Vi after her moving to AZ. was when I would ask her why aren’t you dating anyone or why haven’t you gotten married again and she would always give me this look ( I call it the Vi Look ) and then she say oh… you know; these old men, all they want is a “nurse with a purse”. I don’t know why but it cracked me up the first time, so I would ask her every once in a while just so I could have a good laugh hearing her stick to her story. I love Vi and I will always miss her. We just want you to know your whole family are in our prayers.
Thank you so much Judy. My mom always talked sweetly about you & your sisters ❤️I’m Shelley the youngest daughter… the one that would come & stay with her couple times a year. I wished it could have been more but financially I just couldn’t ?Nurse with a purse?Too funny. That’s my little momma❤️
IT HAS BEEN A YEAR SINCE YOUR FALL. YOU SLIPPED OUT OF YOUR SECURED LIVING AREA AND FELL AND BROKE YOUR HIP. YOU HAD HIP SURGERY ON THE 15th LATE IN THE DAY. WE SPENT MANY HOURS TRYING TO KEEP YOU IN BED. YOU JUST WANTED TO GET UP AND WALK. THE DOCTOR TOLD US THAT PEOPLE AT YOUR AGE (92) DON’T LIVE LONG AFTER THIS SURGERY. I TOLD HIM HE DIDN’T KNOW YOU VERY WELL. WE SPENT DAYS TRYING TO FIND A REHAB FACILITY, BUT MANY TURNED US DOWN BECAUSE YOU WERE CONSIDERED A FLIGHT RISK. RIGHT 4ft.7in. A FLIGHT RISK. THE NEW CARE UNIT HAD A 92 BIRTHDAY FOR YOU ON JAN. 5th FOR YOUR SPECIAL DAY. THE LORD WANTED YOU ON JAN. 8th. WE MISS YOU HOWEVER WE HAVE YEARS FULL OF MEMORIES. RIP VI.
