Vonita Austin passed away in her home on January 9, 2026.  She was born on April 15, 1934 to Carl and Reba Hiler, in Watervliet, Michigan. Vonita married Ken Austin when she was 17 years old , while he was in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.   Ken and her moved to San Diego, California after the birth of their first child.  Vonita was a wife/homemaker and mother of 4 children.  She started working full time, outside the home,  as a payroll clerk after her youngest was in school.

Through the years, Vonita and Ken were involved in numerous church activities.  Both were working full time jobs when Ken started his own accounting business.  In 1989 they relocated to Mesa, Arizona where they both stayed busy until selling the business in 2017. Vonita was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Reba; her husband of 69 years, Ken Austin; her daughters Carol Ruth and Jane Louise; a granddaughter, Crystal Ann and a great granddaughter,  Kaytlynn Marie. She is survived by 2 children, Larry Austin and Susan Wolf; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, plus 11 step-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter and 1 great-great grandson due in February.
