Beloved Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, and Friend
Walter J. Schwartz, (89), passed away in his home in Mesa, Arizona, on October 19, 2021. He was born on June 8, 1932, to Walter and Margaret Schwartz and grew up on the north side of Chicago Illinois with his 3 older sisters. He spent four years playing high school football and after graduating high school, received a football scholarship to play for Mississippi State. After college, Walter traveled throughout Europe during his time as a member of the United State Air Force. After returning from Europe, he spent more than 30 years as a Chicago Fire Fighter. Walter (Jim) was a true hero, saving lives and helping those in need of emergency medical assistance.
Walter enjoyed life and all the beautiful gifts he received from God. It was as a member of the Chicago Tall Club where he received his greatest gift and met the love of his life, Nancy. They married in 1960 and had 2 children, Christine and Karen. He admirably worked hard to provide for his family but still had time to enjoy vacations with his family in Florida and relaxing days with his family.
Walter and Nancy retired to Mesa, Arizona in 1989 and enjoyed time with his family and friends. He was active most of his life and now he has been called home by his Heavenly Father and reunited with his beloved Nancy, and his family and friends in Heaven. Visitation and Rosary will take place on Monday, October 25, 2021, from 5-8pm at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery in Mesa, AZ. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at 10am, at All Saints Catholic Church in Mesa, Arizona.
Although we endure the sadness of Jim’s passing, it is the joy of having him in our lives that prevail…what a wonderful neighbor and friend. Please give Nancy a big hug from us.
Sincerely, Cindy and Mike
