William “Bob” Dixon passed away April 30, 2021 in Gilbert Arizona.

Bob was born in Georgia, but he and his family moved west to Phoenix, Arizona in 1952. He was a Phoenician through and through.

Bob was a bread man from the tip of his toes to the top of his head. He worked for Rainbo Baking Co most of his career where he started as a route man. He worked his way up through the ranks and eventually became President of Arizona Baking Company, a position he held for many years until his retirement.

Bob could not sit still long, however. He loved working and for quite a few years he worked with Sales Builders Marketing out of Phoenix. Even after he retired from Sales Builders in his late 70’s, he still couldn’t stay still for long. He and his wife of 25 years, Fay, had a small place in Show Low, AZ where Bob took on organizing the library for their little community. He spent untold hours sorting, cleaning, organizing and labeling the books that he so dearly loved. Bob was an avid reader, especially anything that had to do with WWII.

Bob loved college football above all other sports. The Arizona State Sun Devils was HIS team and he followed them religiously. He was not above calling into the radio stations or putting pen to paper to let them know when he was dissatisfied with players or coaches.

Bob’s other passion was rebuilding cars. He loved taking them from the ground up and reworking them into things of beauty and power and spent some time as President of the Arizona Street Rod Association. His ’79 Ranchero placed in the winners circle more than once at the Good Guys car show.

Bob and Fay adored traveling together. They have been on 30 cruises and visited 10 countries. One of their favorites was Australia and New Zealand with Italy close behind. They had a fondness for Hawaii and have vacationed there more than a dozen times.

Bob is survived by the love of his life, Fay Dixon. His daughters Kim George and Lisa Mason. His son in law Keith George, stepsons Douglas and David Stearns, grandchildren Jaymi McWhorter, Robert George, Stephanie Bessey and Teegan Nowell along with 5 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021 in Mesa, AZ from 4:30pm-7:30pm. Please contact family for further details.

Faye my heart is so sad for you and for the loss of Bob what a wonderful man I enjoyed the years we worked together you and I am sure Bob thought all your coworkers were crazy but he adored you so much you couldn’t do too many things wrong in his eyes. Jim and I will keep you in our prayers and we are better for knowing such a good man. Jim and Sue Vodika

Fay, Our thoughts and prayers are with you now and forever. We lost a loyal and faithful friend in Bob. Just an all around good guy. When he was asked for a loan he said yes, not why. When asked to help on a project he there till the end. He made you better then you thought you were.
Hope you’ve found peace. Love you, man.
    Jerry and Karen

  6. Shana Kaufmann says:

Above all else, Bob was a man with integrity -choosing courage over comfort; choosing what was right over what was fun, fast, or easy; and choosing to practice his values rather than simply professing them. (Brene Brown)
You were a role model for us all. Thank you. You will be missed.
