Long time Arizona resident, William Dean Carter died on April 14, 2023 after a nearly 4-year battle with cancer. ‘Bill’ was born August 4, 1947 in Washington D.C. into a military family, and grew up in Maryland, Maine, and Oklahoma before moving with his parents to Arizona in 1959 (Williams AFB). He attended Mesa High School and Arizona State University earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for General Instrument and Intel Corporations until retiring at age 46. Bill was passionate about sports. He was an excellent bowler and played baseball and fast-pitch softball until age 50. He also golfed, starting young, and continuing to the month of his passing. Bill supported many charities and on occasion spent weekends helping with maintenance at his local church.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome Leslie Carter, Jane Elizabeth Carter, and nephew, David Peters Carter. Bill is survived by brothers Paul (Vivian) Carter, Michael (Renee) Carter, and Jerome Carter (Debra), and sister, Leslie (Bill) Brabandt, as well as 14 nieces and nephews and 30 great-nieces and great-nephews. Bill will be laid to rest near his parents graves in a private ceremony April 19, 2023 at Mountain View Cemetery. A ‘Celebration of Life’ event is scheduled for May 6, 2023 at 10AM at Christ Greenfield Lutheran Church in Gilbert, Az.
