Marvin Jay Halbert, 79, of Apache Junction, passed away on October 18, 2014. He was born in Woodston, KS on February 6, 1935. Marvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Mary Jane, daughter Marva (Denny), daughter Desirea, and son Mike (Brandy). He was a wonderful grandfather to Tyler, Mishalyn, Scott, and Carson. Sisters include Ardel Viehmann (Ralph), Betty Stevenson (Dale). Brother-in-law to Janice Hardin (Bobby), and Randy Stroup (Allison). Loved as well by nieces, nephews, cousins and many many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sion and Inez Halbert, one sister Ervine, and two brothers-in-law. Marvin graduated from Steelville High School in Missouri, and began working as a heavy equipment operator. He also served 6 years in the U. S. Army Reserves. In the 60’s, he was employed by Arabian Bectal Corp as a Technical Supervisor, moving to Apache Junction in 1969, owning and operating Round Up Mobile Home Park. Over the years he owned several businesses in both Arizona and Missouri, including Round Up Trailer Sales, Gold Dust RV Park, Oil Man, Golden Sun RV Resort and Hideaway Hills. He was a member of the Masonic Order and a Shriner. He loved golf, deep sea fishing, boating, poker, and travel, visiting over 30 countries. Marvin never saw a stranger and was one of the kindest men you would ever want to meet. Donations to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or American Parkinson’s Disease Assoc. The visitation will be Wednesday Oct. 22, 2014 between 5-8:00 pm; the funeral will be Thursday Oct. 23, 2014 at 10:00 am, both at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, AZ (480-832-2850).
