Aura Violeta Christian Channel Pallette Vargus Machuka

AKA “Nana”

Aura was a native of Lima, Peru. She was raised in a fairly predominant family. As a young woman she was crowned ‘Miss Peru’.  She grew and started to dream her dreams to came to America as a young woman. Aura went on to become , a cocktail singer in nightclubs, a decorated beauty queen. She was a college student and ultimately retired from Motorola after 20 years. Aura was fluent in Castilian Spanish, English, French and Mandarin. Aura loved to tell stories of her glamorous nights and adventures she had in her younger days as a woman in the 50’s and 60’s in America. She reveled in the memories and clung to them closely. As she did with her memories of her family back home in Peru. Aura was extremely proud of her heritage and that pride was known to all who knew her. She also relished in knowing she had become an American, in fact she had chosen to volunteer year after year for the polling offices to help each election.

In 1962 Aura became a mother to her only child Violet. The most courageous thing she did was become a single mother. Violet in turn had 7 kids who called Aura “Nana” and from that point, everyone knew her as such. Nana was a loveable woman with a firecracker personality! Nana was the center of attention, at least she expected to be! She loved to sing and dance, she had such an incredible voice.  Her favorite song to sing was “Cielito Lindo”. This song became an anthem anywhere Nana went, this song would be sung. She adored the attention and the plethora of applause after her performance.

Nana lived a full life that was enriched with the love from and for her family. Aura “Nana” Christian Channel is survived by her Daughter: Violet Christian, Grandchildren: Crystal Barrett, Angela Paris, Bobby Barrett, Amanda Barrett, Johnny Barrett, Cherri Barrett and Summer Hayton, Great-Grandchildren: Isaiah Barrett, Angie Estep, Zoe Paris, Shekhaniah Paris, Joshua Larios, Gia Stempien, Joseph Larios, Sergio Larios, Rylee Barrett, Ethina Amado, Raidyn Barrett, Adella Barrett, Aurora Barrett, Codi Harrison, Branden Harrison, Anthony Vanegas, Joshua Vanegas,  Daniel Vanegas, Leyla Hayton and coming soon, Baby Girl Hayton, and by her Great-Great-Grandchild Amarion Devon Johnson.

Nana was graciously welcomed to her afterlife by her parents: Carlos and Julia Pallette, her first husband: Murrel Christian, and her grandsons: Jack Sledge, Jr. and Joseph Larios.

For nearly 100 years “Nana” was the lifeblood of her family. Today, her family gets to live in honor of the love she offered as well as the challenges and sacrifices she made for all of us.

Celebration of Life Services will be held for Aura “Nana”  Christian, friends and family are all welcome to attend.

    As her grandson, I only had the last five years to get to know her, I had a terrible time hopping around to help her, when my foot was broke…and those are my most cherished memories, life is so fragile and there are needs and requirements to keep us alive, my only thought was her and I was eager and blessed to be with her until the end, pals
