Adelina Palugod Antonio

Adelina, or “Lina” as most people called her, was born on April 7, 1938 in Manila, Philippines. She was the eldest daughter of Magsikap Palugod and Felicidad Panganiban Palugod. She was raised in Kawit, Cavite alongside her sister Benicia and was surrounded by countless cousins who she lovingly referred to as her siblings. There she attended Centro Escolar University and received a degree from the College of Pharmacy in 1961. She worked as a Pharmacy Tech for several years before she realized that it was not the career for her. She then made the decision to attend St. Joseph College and get a degree in Education. With her degree, she embarked on a new adventure and traveled across the world to the US in 1967 on a student Visa. She arrived in San Francisco and studied business administration. Soon after, she began working at Wells Fargo Bank. That led to her career as an executive assistant for Bank of America.
In 1969 she met Julian Antonio Jr. when they became flat neighbors. There their love blossomed and grew steadily. With her Visa soon to expire, they faced the sad realization that she would have to return to the Philippines. Julian decided to propose to her so she would not have to go back. They were married on September 17, 1970 in a civil ceremony. An intimate church wedding followed on October 10, 1970 where they were surrounded by close family and friends. They lived together in Daly City, CA where they created two wonderful daughters Julie Antonio and Mary Antonio-Pham. They chose to later move across the bay to Union City to raise their family. Later they retired and moved toMesa, Arizona in 1998. They built a new home and enjoyed many years being surrounded by wonderful family and friends. Adelina flourished in her new “career” as a retired senior with her husband. They would take daily 3mile walks with their beloved dog Coco and explored the world by going on various cruises and vacations. Her greatest joy in life was loving and caring for her many family members which included in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and godchildren.
Adelina P. Antonio, age 85 was granted her angel wings on September 11, 2023 after courageously battling complications from a serious infection. She fought valiantly to stay with her children but the Lord called her home. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Julian, her mother Felicidad and father Magsikap. She is survived by her daughters Julie and Mary, grandchildren Maddie and Noah Pham, Son in-law Hai Pham, her sister Benicia Pelaez and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
They invite you to join them for a memorial service at Mountain View Funeral Home: 7900 East Mesa AZ 85207 on September 21 at 10 am. There will be a viewing on September 20th from 5-8 pm.
