Allan D. Edwards, former resident of Sundance, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2014 with his family at his side in Mesa, AZ. He was born September 26, 1919 in Loveland, CO, the forth son of Sim Carroll and Nellie Edith (Nisley) Edwards. His first year was spent on a ranch near Boyes, MT. In 1920 the family moved to Spearfish, SD where Allan lived and went to school until 1937 when he graduated from Spearfish High School. Allan then went into partnership with his older brother, Noel, on a ranch 10 miles south of Sundance, WY. On June 1, 1941 Allan married (Alpha) Jane Dorsett and they lived and raised their family on the ranch. In 1967 they sold the ranch and moved to Sundance where Allan worked for the City of Sundance as General Commissioner for 10 years; Tracy Motors for 3 years; and then Crook County as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement in 1986. Allan and Jane continued to live in Sundance in the summers and Lake Havasu City, AZ in the winters for 15 years. In 2003 they moved to Chandler, AZ permanently to be close to family. While at the ranch and in Sundance Allan belonged to the Wyoming Wool Growers Association; served on the Predatory Animal Board; Crook County Fair Board; Crook County School Board where he was instrumental in getting country schools consolidated to one local grade and high school; and Sundance City Council. He was also a 50 year member of the Sundance Lodge #9 A.F. & A.M., a past Master of the lodge and secretary for 22 years. He was a Past Associate Guardian of the Jobs Daughters Bethel #43, and past Associate Grand Guardian of Wyoming Jobs Daughters. Allan is survived by his wife of 73 years Jane; daughters Janice (Danny) Hopson and Linda Elder; grandsons Paul Sipe and Christopher (Andrea) Sipe; 2 great-grandchildren Regann and Nolan Sipe; pro-tem son Doug (Lee) Hughes; nephews Chuck, Norm, John, and Carl Edwards, and David Dorsett; and nieces Diane Boyer and Delores Broadway. Allan was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lynne Carole; his parents, and his brothers Frank, Estes, and Noel. A memorial service will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, AZ 85207, on Friday August 8, 2014 at 3:00 pm. Cremation has taken place and graveside services will be held in Sundance, WY at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established to benefit the Shriner’s Hospital. Condolences may be sent to the family at 40668 N. Las Praderas St., San Tan Valley, AZ 85140.
