Forever In the Hearts They Leave Behind

Anita Paula (Dubej) Zeik

Passed Away on October 21, 2019

Anita Paula (Dubej) Zeik, 66, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully and was surrounded by family and friends on October 21, 2019, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Anita was born September 14, 1953, in St. Paul, Minnesota to Stefan and Paula Dubej.

Anita went to Simley High School in Minnesota and shortly after graduating married John Zeik on October 9, 1971.  Anita and John had two daughters, Heidi and Toni. After several different career paths, Anita started a career in mortgage banking where she worked diligently to help provide a better life for her children.  Anita worked as a compliance officer at U.S. Bank until she retired in 2018. After living in Minnesota her whole life, Anita and John followed their dream and moved to Arizona for their retirement years.

Family was the most important aspect of Anita’s life. When it came to birthdays, holidays, or any event, Anita ensured everyone was taken care of and felt at home. She had a way of opening her arms to the world and welcomed anyone in as if they were family. No one was left out and she ensured that everyone had a seat at the table because she loved unconditionally.

Anita was a strong and driven woman with many passions. She inspired her girls with her bodybuilding and the state competitions she won. She was their hero; not many moms could do incline pushups with two girls on her back! Another passion of Anita’s was boating with the family on the St. Croix river. It was here she made the most memories and several lifelong friends. Most importantly, Anita was John’s co-pilot where they often enjoyed scenic and cross-country drives. There was no better co-pilot to keep John in-between the lines.

She was preceded in death by her father, Stefan Dubej.

She is survived by her loving husband John; daughters Heidi (Mike) Kodelka and Toni Zeik; mother Paula Dubej; sister Ingrid (Mike) Eckberg and brothers Steven (Pam) Dubej, Tony (Luanne) Dubej and Michael (Kim) Dubej; nieces/nephews Erica Eckberg, Andrea (Adam) Swenson, Nick (Angie) Dubej, Eric (Tracy) Dubej, Jessica (Chad) Nelson, Derek Persons, Taylor Dubej, Parker Post, Kaleb Dubej; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday October 25, 2019, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1244 South Power Rd., Mesa, Arizona 85206 at 4:00pm.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Anita’s wonderful life will be held on Saturday October 26, 2019, at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7900 E Main St. Mesa, AZ 85207 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Anita’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful people who kept Anita in their prayers, to the staff at HonorHealth Osborn Medical Center for all their help and those that encouraged us through this difficult time. She will be forever loved and missed by many.
