Arthur Harold Shanks, 88, of Gold Canyon, AZ, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 25, 2011. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Arthur bravely served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II as a rear gunner on a two man dive bombing plane. He was a business owner and a leader in the Chandler community as it began to grow. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lola, his son, Alvin Shanks, his daughter, Lynn Darling, five grandchildren, Jena Shanks, Dane Shanks, Scott Lane, Brett Darling, and Craig Darling, and one great grandchild, Kendal. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am Wednesday March 2, 2011 at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, AZ (480-832-2850). Interment at National Memorial Cemetery of AZ at 1:00 pm March 2, 2011.
