Barbara A. Damiano

March 29, 1942 – January 7, 2021


Barbara A. Damiano, 78, of Mesa Arizona, left us to be with the Lord  on January 7th, 2021.

 

Barbara was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Robert Kanning Senior and Pearl  Kanning on March 29th, 1942. Their family moved to Chandler, Arizona in 1957- and she graduated from Chandler High School with the Class of 1960. She married Richard Damiano on August 5th, 1970 in Apache Jct. Arizona. She worked as the bookkeeper at the family business, D & T Golf Cars in Mesa until 1982 and retired to raise their family.

 

Barbara most enjoyed her family, and also enjoyed reading, cooking, and traveling. She even ventured into the mysteries of golf to please her husband, they played at the then named, Camelot Golf and country club where they built their family home in 1974.She and her husband, Richard were long time ASU football fans and held season tickets going back to the days of Danny White and Woody Green in the early 1970’s She was a member and volunteer of Victory Lutheran Church as well as a Hospice volunteer in Mesa as well as Prescott in the summers for a number of years.

 

Barbara is preceded in death by her father Robert, her mother Pearl, and sister, Marilyn. Barbara is survived by her husband Richard, daughter Shari Swope of Daytona Beach FL, son Daniel Damiano (Angelica) of Phoenix, daughter Lisa Clark (Todd) of Trinidad, Texas, and son Dion Damiano, of Mesa, Sister Joyce (George) of  St. Augestine FL, and brother Bob Kanning (Judy), of Las Vegas, NV. Grandchildren: Daniel, Michael, Kelli, Kory, Niccole, Kristin, C.J., and Felicia. Great Grandchildren: Christopher, Madison, Benjamin, Olivia, Noah, Theresa, Hayley, Ryley, Ben, and Finn.

 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 20th, 2021 at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery at 7900 East Main Street, Mesa, Arizona, beginning with a viewing at 1:00 pm followed by a service officiated by Senior Pastor Larry Kassebaum of Victory Lutheran Church at 2:00 pm. A brief committal will follow at the burial site.

 

Pallbearers will be; Daniel Damiano (son), Dion Damiano (son), Daniel Barnes, (grandson), Bob Kanning, (brother), Jacob Pelkey (son in law) and Fred Wirth (G.M. of D & T Golf Cars and family friend).
