Barbara (Suze) Diane Bubke Lyman, 70, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away peacefully in her home, on January 13, 2016 from a long battle with cancer.
Barbara was born in Battle Creek, Iowa on March 11, 1945. She graduated from Schleswig High School in 1963. After high school, she attended school to become a stewardess. Her aspirations then took her to Washington D.C. to work at the Navy Annex. Barbara was an Iowa farm girl who married her high school sweetheart, Gailen Lyman, on July 25, 1964. They celebrated their 50th anniversary with all of their children and grandchildren present. They were married for a wonderful 51 years.
Barbara worked for American Greetings for a number of years. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren grow up and love spending time with family. Playing cards and singing “We Are Family” on Karaoke were just a few family activities Barbara loved to do. She also loved to visit the Oregon Coast with her high school love, Gailen. Everyone who knew Barbara would say that she was always smiling and those smiles were contagious. Family and her strong faith in God gave her the strength to defeat her long battle with cancer.
Barbara is survived by her husband Gailen, her children Brenda and Henry Campos of Chandler, Arizona, Tracy Kastner of Schleswig, Iowa, Scott and Sonia Lyman of Chandler, Arizona. Seven grandchildren, Dustin and Breanna Campos, Cara and Cierra Kastner, Austin, Tiffani, and Justin Lyman. Seven brothers and one sister, Leroy Bubke, Tom and Cathy Bubke, Connie Lee, Donnie and Virgina Bubke, Roger and Karlon Bubke, Steven Bubke, Tim and Lila Bubke, Terry and LaVonne Schulte, Maria Schulte, Diane Schulte and many other family and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Wacille Bubke and Francis and Edyth Schulte and her brothers, Leon Bubke, Mike Bubke, and David Schulte.
The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 800 West Ray Road, Chandler Arizona, 85225. Pastor Mark Rossington of Epiphany Lutheran Church will be officiating. Burial will be set at a later date in Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Family Comfort Hospice, 7975 N. Hayden Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85258. Mountain View Funeral Home is assisting the family.
