Forever In the Hearts They Leave Behind

Barbara Shaffer Snelling Anderson

Passed Away on June 12, 2016

B.J. Anderson 83, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on June 12, 2016. She was born October 29, 1932 in Richmond, Indiana to Laurence and Sylvia

Shaffer. She was a Clerk for Salt River Project for 20 years, and worked 6 years for Bashas’. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, brother, John M. Shaffer, three infant sons, and her son-in-law, Donnie Carman. Barbara is survived by her children Lesa Carman (Donnie deceased), Tamara Hughes (Wilbur), Michael Snelling, Letitia Rohr (Patrick), 9 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

Her passion for life revolved around family, gardening and cooking. When she worked in her garden, honey bees would land on her shoulder. She came to life, on her oasis in the desert with Holly Hocks and many other Indiana flowers.

She was an incredible cook who prepared Hungarian family dishes for every holiday. Chicken Paprika and Cabbage rolls were always
on the menu with lots of mashed potatoes. She worked for hours preparing these special dishes.

To the end she had an amazing strength and courage. When she could no longer communicate verbally she continued to bless us with her beautiful smile. There will be no public service, the family held a living celebration of life last October. Condolences may be left at https://mountainviewfuneralhomeandcemetery.com/category/obituaries/

We wish to thank the staff at Brookdale NE Mesa for the wonderful care they provided our mother over the past seven years.

In lieu of Flowers donation may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association; Southwest Chapter. Address: Central Arizona Regional Office – 1028 E. McDowell Rd., Phoenix, AZ. 85006.
