Benjamin H. Poormon Sr. – 88 of Mesa, AZ went to be with his Lord and Savior February 16th, 2022. He passed peacefully with local family. He was employed by Sheridan Oil Co. in Seneca Falls, NY for several years. Then moving to Skaneateles, NY where he had his own garage, Benny’s Rotary Service & Towing. He rented the Arco Station at the time of gas shortages. He then purchased 1321 E. Genesee an Exxon station from Elmer Chapman where he had a gas station, parts store, and auto repair. He also purchased the Citgo Station (now the fire house) where he had gas, repairs, and towing.

He was a lifetime member of Skaneateles Fire Dept. for 54 years, transferring from Fayette Fire Dept. where he was a member since he was 18. He was predeceased by his parents, Asa and Ida Poormon. His brothers Leroy, Don, Ralph, Edwin, Carl, Eugene, sister Mary and several nieces and nephews. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Kathryn Benton Poormon, brother George (Nancy) Poormon, his children Terri (Clint) Smith, Tim, Brenda, Benjamin (Teresa), Leisha (Don) Leach, Vincent (Lisa), and Jason (Nicole). Several foster children, Natalie (Sam) Majlaton, Dawn (Mike) Zaffuto, Earleen (Jeff) Miller, Debbie (Rocky) Pitcher, Penny Ouimet, and Tina Bower all of which he raised as his own. He was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

There will be a service at Broadway Christian Church (7335 E. Broadway Rd. Mesa, Az 85208) on February 24th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Skaneateles, NY volunteer fire dept. There will also be a service in NY later this summer.
