Bernie J. Montoya, 92, peacefully passed away, Friday, October 22, 2010 at his home in Chandler, AZ. Bernie was born June 27, 1918. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lupe T. Montoya. He is survived by his sister, Josephine (Clorindo) Ortiz, and aunt Frances Castillo. He is also survived by his sons, Bernie Ray (Lorraine) Montoya, Ronald (Gina) Montoya; daughter, Theresa (Phil) Hylton; grandchildren, Rebecca (Brian) Bainter, Brian (Melanie) Montoya, Melissa (Tommy) Wong, Mark Montoya, Lindsey (Charles) Parker, Brandon (Allison) Montoya, Kate (Allan) Hylton Dyament, and Elizabeth Hylton; great-grandchildren, Emmerson and Avery Bainter, Lilyana Montoya, Remington Wong, and Baby Montoya. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Bernie proudly served in the US Army and was a WWII veteran. Bernie was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and served as State Secretary. The family would like to thank Alary’s Home Healthcare, Banner Hospice, Doug and Margaret Hylton and the many friends Bernie made throughout his 92 years. There will be a visitation between 5:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, 7900 E. Main St. Mesa, AZ. The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am, Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, 2213 N. Lindsay Rd., Mesa, AZ.
