Forever In the Hearts They Leave Behind

Bess Elizabeth Cline

March 28, 1933 – October 1, 2020

Bess Elizabeth Cline 87, of Mesa, Arizona passed away the morning of October 1, 2020. She was at home when the angels escorted her to our Heavenly Father.  Better known as Liz to most of us, she fought the good fight against lung cancer for the past two years.

Liz loved her family, loved to crochet anything from baby booties to afghans, and she especially loved to play cards which she mostly was the winner in many different games. Liz’s grandsons Damien and Kevin, granddaughters Trisha, Leslie, Angela, and Candice were the six loves of her life.  She spent as much time as she could with each one of them as often as possible.  Morning was her favorite time of day, Liz spent a lot of mornings going for walks or bowling at the local bowling lanes. She was so proud of the fact she rolled a 250 game one time and because she was so excited she forgot to take her bowling shoes off and wore them all the way home that day. Liz had the kindest heart and awesome attitude that any one could have and it is no surprise that her church friends were always in her thoughts and prayers.  She dedicated her energy many times to the March of Dimes walkathons, center for expectant mothers in need of assistance, and just about anyone who needed help.

She was born in Wytheville, Virginia on March 28,1933 to the late Julia Mae and Joseph Wolhford. Liz was the wife of the late Harland Cline of Mesa, Arizona, sister to the late Claude Wohlford, and sister to Carl Wolhford of St. Augustine, Florida.  Her three children -Tony(Jamie)Cline, Sandy(Bob)McCullough, and David Cline have felt blessed to have had her as a mother.  Liz was an awesome mom. Her six great-grandchildren Laysen, Cole, Logan, Tristan, Chloe, and Olivia called her Grammy Cline and loved all of her stories about each one of their parents.  Liz was one heck of a storyteller. She had many nieces and nephews but her heart found a soft spot for Julie, Dina, and Ken but she loved them all. Liz never met a stranger that she didn’t like and she was always looking for that next craft or card game.

I am really sorry to hear of Liz passing. I bowled with her for years and a couple of our team was first place. and I always enjoyed the gifts she would give on my birthday and holidays they would always be a crochet dish cloth Over the years we had lost contact with each others I really missed receiving Christmas cards from her she would always mail them even if we would see each other for bowling. I remember the day she bowled her high game. She was so happy. I send prayers to her family and my condolences. If there was a way to add a picture I would of us bowling together.
