Bessie Mae (Albin) Hanusosky was born July 23, 1920 in Hatfield Arkansas to Robert Porter and Bertha Pearl (Russell) Albin. She passed away Friday February 7, 2020 in Gilbert, Arizona. She had two older brothers, James and Robert and one older sister, Helen. She had two younger brothers Melvin and R.L. (Raymond Leon) and one younger sister, Bertha. When Bessie’s family moved from Arkansas to Oklahoma, they purchased a farm where they lived until she was about 8 years of age. Her family then sold their farm and purchased the Elmwood store and home in Elmwood, Oklahoma. Bessie graduated from high school in Balko, Oklahoma.

She is survived by her 3 children, Leucrecia Abbott of Tempe, AZ, Martha Wright of Gilbert, AZ, and David Bryan of Mesa, AZ. Bessie had 7 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 32 great- great- grandchildren. During World War II she worked in sync with the Rosie Riveters, crawling inside the wings of planes where she pushed back on the sheets of metal as the Riveters attached them to the planes. During her lifetime she worked many jobs, and eventually retired from the El Rancho Grocery Store chain in Phoenix, Arizona. Bessie married the love of her life, Julius Hanusosky in 1961, and they lived a full and happy life together for 58 years. Bessie was preceded in death by all her siblings and parents. Bessie Mae will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.
