Penny entered heaven on Feb. 23, 2014 in Payson at the age of 98. She was a resident of Mesa and Payson, AZ. She and her husband spent their early years as owners of 66 hair salons, three cosmetology schools, wig studios, and a travel agency. Later their daughter assumed management as they enjoyed their retirement traveling in their motorhome. She was licensed with the Securities Exchange Commission in PA. She served her community as a member and president of the Mesa Women’s Club and The Welcome Wagon Club. She also enjoyed square dancing and ceramics. The Senior Centers of both Mesa and Payson provided her with tremendous fellowship. Penny was preceded in death by her husband Raymond E. Mayer and grandson Devry Phelps. Survived by daughter Donna Phelps (Wayne), granddaughter Nicole Phelps Curtis (Jay) great grandsons Chase, Austin, Hayden, Brayden, and Jackson and great granddaughter Camryn. At her request no services will be held.
