Passed Away on September 17, 2019


Billie Jean Sperry of Mesa, AZ formerly of Mt. Carmel, IL departed this life on September 17, 2019. Billie Jean was born in Mt. Carmel, IL on March 16, 1940 to Willie and Essie Reel.

She graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1958.  She worked as a telephone operator and as a cook at Wabash General Hospital for many years.  She and Richard Sperry married on September 12, 1981.  She and Richard owned the Home Café in Mt. Carmel for 13 years.  In October, 2000, she and Richard moved to Mesa, AZ to be close to their kids and grandchildren.  She was a member of Disciples of Christ and Victory Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Sherry Perry of Mesa, Az; grandsons Brandon and (Natalie) Perry of Mesa, AZ, Quinton Perry of Mesa, AZ; great grandchildren Xander Perry and Gillian Perry of Mesa, AZ;   sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Kenny Hunsaker of Fishers, IN; niece Thea Sarver (Gary Gulley) and great nephew Garrett Gulley of Waldorf, MD and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Essie and Willie Reel;  grandparents, William Arthur and Lillie Miles; and husband, Richard Sperry.  Funeral services will be held Monday, September 23 at 11:00 am at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7900 E. Main Street, Mesa, AZ.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the West, 21410 N. 19th Ave., Suite 100, Phoenix AZ, 85027 in the memory of Billie Jean.
