Carl Clifford Thompson, 95, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013 in Mesa, Arizona from heart failure after a long hard fought battle with CHF. He lived a happy, eventfully long life. He was born in Greenville, PA to Samuel E. and Lena Barrows Thompson on August 12, 1917. He was a graduate of Penn High School in Greenville. He attended Erie Business School and served in the army where he earned the WWII Victory of Medal. He retired from the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad over 30 years ago. He was married to Alice Reagle of Grove City, PA on April, 20, 1939 who passed away in 1999. He enjoyed all his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Nothing was dearer to him or meant more. He was happiest when he was with all of us. The little ones kept him going longer than any health care could have. We will miss his famous stories, his laugh, and his love and passion for life. We all can agree he is now pain free and at peace watching over us every day to uncover more stories to share. We all love him dearly, and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his two daughters, Barbara Hess of Fountain Hills, AZ and Anne T. Whitfield of Lakewood, CO; two sons, Edward Thompson of Scottsdale, AZ and David Thompson of North Bend, WA. He was predeceased by Thomas W. Thompson of New Castle, PA and James S. Thompson of Blackhawk, CO. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, August 9th at 10:00 a.m. located at 1534 N Recker Road, Mesa, AZ 85205. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, http://alzfdn.org/.
