Passed Away on December 14, 2013


Carl Dippel, Jr., 82, of Mesa, AZ passed away on December 14, 2013 in Mesa, AZ due to a stroke suffered December 11th. Carl was born in Muscatine, IA to Carl and Amelia Brauer Dippel on December 28, 1930. He went to high School at Muscatine High School and graduated in 1949. He worked the farm with his parents until he was inducted into the military in 1953. Carl was honorably discharged from the Army in 1955. Most of his career was spent with the United States Post Office as a Letter Carrier for 30 years. He received an award for Punctual and Regular Attendance for 24 months in 1942, Champion Speller in 1945, the Good Neighbor Award in 2002 but was a great neighbor for many years. Carl was involved in St. Peter Lutheran Church until he was not able to get around by himself anymore. He was an avid outdoorsman and very much enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping from a very early age. Carl is survived by his stepdaughter-in-law, Jean Stumpf of Granger, IN, step grandson Kevin and step granddaughter Kimberly (Brian) Gandy, cousins Laura Davis, Dennis Albrecht and Lois Albrecht, great niece Sharon (Garth) Murry, grandnephew Eric Murry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, his parents and stepson William Stumpf. The visitation for Carl will be Thursday December 19, 2013 at 1:00 pm followed by the funeral service, officiated by Rev. Leland Bottjen of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, at 2:00 pm at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, AZ (480-832-2850).In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1844 E. Dana Ave., Mesa, AZ 85204. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to John Hicks for his diligent care of Carl during his period of infirmity. Carl was forever the helpful neighbor.
