Carolyn Elaine Raisanen, 70, passed away peacefully July 27, 2013 at her home with her husband Richard Raisanen by her side after a battle with cancer.
Born in Derby, Maine on March 11, 1943, she was the daughter of Murray and Helen Lewis. Carolyn was raised in Maine but moved to Windham, NH with her former husband, Joseph Sangillo, where they raised two children. She worked as the membership secretary at the YMCA in Nashua, NH and was a regular member of the choir at the Hudson Baptist Church.
She married Richard Raisanen on September 1, 1989 and moved to Arizona in 1994. Here she made many friends in the cities of Mesa and Apache Junction. A lifelong piano player, she taught herself how to play the organ and played weekly for the Crossroads Southern Baptist church. With much of her family in NH, she and Dick returned every summer in their RV to visit with all of their children and grandchildren.
Carolyn was predeceased by her parents and her brother Calvin Lewis. She is survived by her husband Richard Raisanen; two sons Mark Sangillo of Candia, NH and Scott Sangillo of Goffstown, NH; four stepchildren Dick Raisanen of Nashua,NH, Carol Meedzan of New Ipswhich, NH, Debra Rotkiewicz of Hollis, NH and David Raisanen of Hudson, NH; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm August 31, 2013 at the Monadnock Full Gospel Church, 457 Middle Winchendon Road, in Rindge, NH. A memorial service for her winter friends in AZ will be held at a later date.
