Passed Away on September 3, 2017


Charles Thomas Bowman passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 3rd, 2017 in Mesa Arizona. “Chuck” was born November 15th, 1936 in Danville, IL. to Dale and Mary (Mahoney) Bowman. He spent his early years on the family farm and joined the U.S. Army in 1955. On September 3rd, 1960, Chuck married the love of his life, Margaret Meiners. Chuck, Margo and their two daughters relocated to Scottsdale, AZ in 1968.

Chuck spent many years working in banking and finance and retired from The State of Arizona, Department of Emergency Management. He loved the outdoors and spent time with his family camping and fishing. Chuck was a strong believer in giving back to the community which he displayed through his many years of volunteerism.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 57 years Margo, daughters Renee Martyka (Dennis) and Michelle Bowman, sister Gayle Bowman, grandchildren Joshua (Terri) and Stephanie, and 4 great-grandchildren. He will always be remembered with love by family and friends.

A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held Monday, September 11th, at 10:30 a.m. Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, 7900 E. Main St. Mesa, AZ 85207. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

    Dad,
    You taught me right from wrong. You said “do the right thing”, even if it’s harder and no one is watching. When I was 15, you taught me how to balance my checkbook, put money in savings and create a budget. I remember building the dune buggy with you and Mick and you teaching me how to drive when I was 13. We rode horses and dirt bikes. We swam in creeks and swung from ropes into ponds. We listened to the Beach Boys on eight track tapes during road trips. You were home every night and said “I love you” and bedtime. I know you will always watch over us. I miss you so much….

    On the morning of his 57th wedding anniversary, my grandfather finally found himself at peace and rest. I could not be more thankful for the memories we have shared nor more impressed for the tenacity he displayed through his life. He was truly an inspiration and remains one to this day.
