Clara T. Crone of Mesa, AZ, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2013 at the age of 89. Mom was born January 21, 1924 to Bernhard & Mattie Behrens in Sterling, IL. In 1946, she married Robert Crone, beginning their life together farming in IL & were blessed with 5 children. Mom also began selling Tupperware, which opened up the possibility of a life in a warmer place. In 1957 the family moved to Lubbock, TX where she and Dad opened a Tupperware distributorship. In 1964, they moved to Austin, TX, and Mom kept busy with family, church & her career. Finally their dream of warmer weather came true when the family moved to Mesa, AZ in 1970. Mom began working for the Office of the State Chemist retiring after 20 years in 1991. Bob Crone died in 1983. Later Mom met & married Bob Hoyt in 1992, who passed away in 2002. After retirement, Mom continued to be active in church & most recently, the Mesa Association of Retarded Citizens. She spent her summers in Lakeside, AZ & loved to travel. The last trip only 6 weeks ago; a road trip to Austin so Mom & all 5 children were together creating many special memories for all of us during the final month of her life. Clara is survived by her 5 children, Bob Jr. (Susan), Phil (Amy), Marcia Whisler (Al), Peggy Moore, and Paul. Also, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren & numerous nephews & nieces. Her 2 husbands, parents, 2 brothers & 3 sisters preceded her in death. Mom loved everyone unconditionally since she never met anyone she didn’t like. She also loved to dance, wearing out her dance partners and eventually herself. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The family would like to thank Orland Baldwin for being her good friend for 10 years, Elaine Bigelow for being her caregiver during the past year and the able staff of Hospice of the Valley. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 5 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Mountain View Funeral Home, 7900 E. Main St. Mesa, AZ 85207. Funeral services will be Monday, May 6, 11:00 am at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 800 W. Ray Rd, Chandler, AZ with interment at Mountain View Cemetery at 12:30 pm.
