Clelland (Clell) William Johnson, 96, of Mesa, AZ passed away November 5, 2011. Clell was born on June 29, 1915 to Leon and Signa Johnson of Ocheyedan, IA. He attended schools in Iowa and Illinois. He married Mavis Cooper on May 27, 1937 in Algona, IA. They were married 57 years before she passed in December 1994. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a sister Shirley Johnson, and a daughter Kay Lynn Johnson. He was a graduate of the Worsham College of Embalming in Chicago, IL. While operating his business, The Johnson Funeral Home in Mountain Lake, MN, Clell also managed a branch office of F.F. Dick Insurance Agency; served on the Mountain Lake City Council; served as interim administrator for the Mountain Lake Hospital and Eventide Home; and after selling his funeral home, he and his wife Mavis helped manage Windom Country Club in Windom, MN. After moving to Mesa in 1972, he returned to work managing the Mission Chapel Funeral Home in Mesa, AZ. Clell was a loving and kind man who possessed an unfaltering devotion to his family and friends. He excelled at finding good in everyone. He is survived by a son, Barry (Ruthie Neuman) Johnson of Mesa, AZ, a son, Craig (partner Maurice Demers) Johnson of Reno, NV, a granddaughter Debra (John) Nawrocki of Bartlett, IL and three grandsons, Barry (Lisa) Johnson of Fife, WA, Chad (Brenda) Johnson of Reno, NV and Ryan Johnson ( Nicole Jolicoeur) of San Francisco, CA, as well as four great-grandchildren, Jessica and Kathryn Nawrocki, Annika Johnson and Drew Johnson. Clell was a member of the Chain Lake Masonic Lodge, #64, in Fairmont, MN. He was raised on Oct. 31, 1944. He was also a member of the Zuhrah Shrine in Minneapolis, MN and the El Zaribah Shrine in Phoenix, AZ where his son Barry also belongs. At the request of Clell and his family, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children and mailed to El Zaribah Shrine Auditorium, 552 N. 40th St., Phoenix, AZ 85008. Interment will be at the Ocheyedan Cemetery, Ocheyedan, IA.
