Daniel Jon Runkel, 50, of Mesa Arizona passed away June 27, 2020, at Plaza Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Scottsdale Arizona.

Dan was born September 6, 1969, to Dan and Jackie (Thompson) Runkel, in Stuttgart, Bad Cannstatt, Germany. He attended grade schools in Herculaneum Mo, Tomah and Sparta Wi, and graduated from Dimond High School in Anchorage Alaska. He attended the University of Alaska Anchorage, University of Michigan Lansing, and Devry University Phoenix majoring in Electronics and Electrical Engineering. He began working at INTEL in 1994, and enjoyed his job as a manufacturing technician for over 25 years. He had many friends and co-worker there that he was very fond of.

He loved building and programming computers, surfing the web, and posting facebook jokes and stories to match his dry and satirical sense of humor. The Green Bay Packers was always his favorite football team. He was a good hearted family man and loved taking his son and family different places, to any COMIC-CON or science fiction, or renaissance events in the area. He was very quick witted and willing to debate the pros and cons of any issue of your choice.

Dan married Stefanie Erwin in 1995 and they have one son, Daniel Michael Runkel. He is additionally survived by his parents of Show Low Arizona, brother Joseph Runkel of Mesa AZ, Christopher Runkel of San Tan Arizona, his sister Julie Runkel Page of Anchorage Alaska, Grand Mother Marjorie Thompson Osseo Wi, Great Uncle and Aunt Don and Rachel Woychik of Independence Wi, and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins from the Runkel and Thompson families.

He is preceded in death by his Grand Parents Helen (Woychik) Runkel and John Runkel of Centerville Wi, Grandfather Earl Thompson and Uncle Paul Thompson of Osseo Wi.

A small visitation and service will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery, Mesa Arizona on July 6, at 2 PM.

    I was so sorry to hear about his passing. Just found out about the services sad wont be able to go. I knew Dan over 20 years was my night shift for SFGI. Great guy . sorry for your loss.
