Dan Huettl, 55, of Gilbert, AZ, our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 6, 2014. He was born in Garrison, North Dakota, on March 14, 1959, to LuVerne and Lorraine Huettl. Dan moved to the Phoenix area in 1968 with his mother and three of his siblings. He graduated from Cortez High School in 1977 and later from Arizona State University with Honors in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. As an ASU junior, Dan began an internship at Motorola which culminated in a 33.5 year career in the semiconductor industry. When Motorola sold off that sector, Dan stayed with the semiconductor group and became one of the original employees of ON Semiconductor, where he worked for the next fourteen years. At the time of his death, Dan was the Senior Director of the Small Signal Division and the SPG Automotive Task Force. Throughout his career, Dan enjoyed traveling internationally where he formed many friendships with colleagues from around the world. Dan enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and time spent with his family. His favorite hobby was amateur Ham Radio. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, whom he married in 1992, and his two daughters, Jenny and Caitlyn, his siblings Vern Huettl, Patricia Burckhard (Alan), Alice Zeiszler (Gerald), Tom Huettl, Jeri Saenz (Gilbert), and Nina Huettl, his brother-in-law Stan Bird, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Wanda Bird. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made for Jenny and Caitlyn’s college fund at any Wells Fargo Bank under the name of “Daniel Huettl Memorial Fund”. A Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, January 25 at 2:30 pm at Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse, 1600 E. Lakeside Drive, Gilbert, AZ 85234. Dan’s sense of humor, love for his family, work ethic, and loyalty will be greatly missed.
