Forever In the Hearts They Leave Behind

Darlene Ann Martin

February 1, 1945 – December 19, 2020

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of our mother, Darlene Ann Martin. The spirit of our beloved mother left this earth on December 19, passing peacefully from this life into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Thanks to everyone who have reached out with kind thoughts and prayers, it means everything to have you there for us. While this is very difficult time for our family, we would like to celebrate her life, what she meant to us and always will.  There were several causes important to our mother during her life, none larger than then the care and love of cats and dogs. Friends and family know that if there was a cat in need of a meal or a home for the night, Mom was opening her door and heart, even if her home was at full cat capacity. That is what made her who she was, a woman with a big heart who cared deeply for those she loved.  Our family graciously requests that in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Arizona Animal Welfare League. Your kind donation will be made in her name, providing much needed assistance for animals across the state of Arizona.

Another cause very important to Mom was the care of our senior citizens and those on hospice. She worked as a CNA for several years, providing compassionate care for people in the last phases of their lives. We truly appreciate the caregivers that were there for our mother over the last year, as a family we acknowledge how overwhelming and difficult the overall process can be. If you or your loved ones are approaching this phase of life, please allow our family to be there for yours in any way we can.  Mom would always tell her kids how proud she was of us. On every phone call and conversation, it didn’t matter how long we spoke, who was listening or who was in the room, she was very proud of us. What she possibly never knew, and what we would like to share now, is how proud we are of her. She was a single mother raising three kids, each with their own set of challenges, while working multiple jobs and long hours to provide for her family. She wasn’t perfect, none of us are, but she was perfect for Kandi, Tim and Ty. She was both Mom and Dad throughout our lives, and we couldn’t be more proud of her.

Rest easy in peace, we love you mama.
