David Leon May
September 19, 1944 – September 5, 2025

David Leon May, age 80, passed away peacefully at home on September 5, 2025, in his home of 47 years. He was born on September 19, 1944, in Elmira, New York, to Glen Dean May and Marjorie Ellen Barber.

On November 6, 1964, David married Gayla Heiner. On January 10, 1981, their marriage was solemnized for time and all eternity in the Mesa, Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, along with their four children. Together, David and Gayla built a life centered on family, faith, and love.

David worked as a professional truck driver throughout his career, driving double-trailer semis with skill and dedication. Outside of work, he loved camping, listening to classic country music, and bringing joy to others with his quick wit and sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Gayla; children Debbie Adams (Mark), Holly Monson (Mark), and Paul May; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Barbara Redmond, John May, and Jerome May.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his oldest son, Scott; and his brothers, Francis May and Theodore May.

Services
A funeral service for David will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Mountain View Cemetery, 7900 E Main St, Mesa, AZ. A viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service and interment at 2:00 p.m.
