Dawn Pigman, age 84, passed away peacefully at home in Grants Pass, Oregon on January 25, 2023.  She was born and raised in South Dakota and worked as a secretary in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she met Gaylord Pigman and married in 1959. Together they moved to the west coast and eventually settled in Chico, California to raise their family.  In retirement, Dawn and Gaylord split their time between Chico, California; Grants Pass, Oregon; and Mesa, Arizona.  Dawn was an avid musician who loved playing the piano and accordion and enjoyed entertaining friends and family.   She also enjoyed square dancing and round dancing and her passion for fun and playing board and card games was only equaled by her love to host parties.  Along with Gaylord, Dawn enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and traveling in their RV.  Her fun-loving spirit was unparalleled, and she always had a funny joke, smile and a laugh ready to share.

Dawn was a faithful woman and member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Chico, California and served in Redeemer’s Mary Martha Society for many years.  She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and she lived her life to the fullest with love, passion, and grace across 63 years of marriage and a long life. Dawn is survived by her husband Gaylord Pigman, son Scott Pigman, daughter Jill Pigman, and preceded in death by her daughter Michelle Nunn in October 2020.  Also survived by son-in-law Mark Nunn; grandchildren Cody Nunn, Brock Nunn and wife Kelsey, Reece Nunn and wife Tessa; great-grandson Rowan Nunn, and brother Warren Wegener. She will be greatly missed, but lovingly remembered by us all!

A memorial service for Dawn will be held at Mountain View Lutheran Church in Apache Junction, Arizona on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 1pm, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life gathering on property at the Family Life Center until 4p.  She will be entombed at Mountain View Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona.

Dawn was an amazing and wonderful woman and I could not have asked for a more loving and supportive mother-in-law. Her fun loving nature and zest for life with Gaylord and our family will always be an inspiration and example of how we all should live and love. Her loss is tragic and sad, but I am so very happy that both her and Michelle are together in Heaven and whole again, with smiles and laughter filling each moment. Rest in Peace and be forever blessed in Christ and your Heavenly home. All my love!!

  3. Barbara O'Brien Schutte says:

May all the happy memories help lift you all up during this sad time. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

  4. Barb Henry says:

I was lucky to know Dawn and Gaylord as neighbors and friends in St. Louis Park. Mn. and drove to California several times with our family to see them. Dawn was a beautiful person in every way and lit up the room with her smile and kindness. I will always miss her.
