Dean G. Hughes, 81, born in Gessie, Indiana passed away at 10:45 AM (MT) Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Hospice in Mesa, Arizona. He was born January 24, 1932 in Gessie, Indiana, the son of Glenn H. and Bernice Kell Hughes. He married Norma J. Carrigan on July 27, 1956 at the Methodist Church on Main Street in Danville, Illinois. She survives. Other survivors include his daughters, Debbie Dowlen of Murfreesboro, TN and Jessica “Jai” Hughes of Tucson, AZ and son, Wade Hughes of Chino Valley, AZ; and two granddaughters, Robin Hardcastle of Murfreesboro, TN and Britt Moore of Madisonville, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Bonnie Hughes of Lebanon, IN. Dean was the Plant Facility Manager at the General Electric Plant in Madisonville, KY from 1970 to 1992. He served as the President of Madisonville Rotary Club and was very active in community projects. He was involved in the creation of the Madisonville Retail Association as owner of Cole’s Office Outfitters and Kwik Kleen Kleaners in Madisonville, KY. He spent his retirement with his wife traveling all across the United States in their RV. There will be no funeral services but the family requests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 5635 West 96th Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278.
