Dennis Gay, 69, of Custer, SD passed away Sunday, December 20, 2009 in Apache Junction, AZ. Mr. Gay, a railroad employee for 41 years, was born in Sioux City, IA. His favorite thing in life was his family. After his retirement in 2002, he and his wife Chris moved to the Black Hills of South Dakota to enjoy his love of horses and riding. Dennis also enjoyed square dancing, golf and four wheeling. He was a very loving husband and father. His survivors include his wife Christine, daughters: Wendy Herron and husband John of Spring, TX, Kelly Markel and husband Jeremy of Bloomington, MN and Catherine Saumer and husband Travis of Hammond, WI, sons: David Gay and wife Sandra of Costa Mesa, CA, Kenneth Gray and wife Janice of Gillette, WY, Rodney Gay and wife Tami of Mankato, MN and James Markel and wife Sara of Tampa, FL, his sister Marilyn Peters of Salix, IA and 14 grandchildren. A memorial was held Saturday, December 26, 2009 in Apache Junction, AZ. Donations may be made in Dennis’ honor to the American Heart Association, 2929 S 48TH ST, Tempe, AZ 85282.
