The Owen Family is saddened to announce that our beloved father Don L Owen passed peacefully in his sleep at Hospice of the Valley Eckstein Center on April 8, 2022. In his final days, Don’s lighthearted spirit was as alive as ever as he shared his final moments with his children and grandchildren. We are comforted knowing he is now with his beloved wife and our mother, Yvonne, as he joined her in heaven on their 72nd wedding anniversary.

Don lived a wonderful, full and adventurous life, and his legacy will live on through his children Rick & wife Cis, Doug & wife Shirlee, Teri & husband Scott, Jeff & wife Traci; as well as his nine grandchildren Melissa & husband Chris, Jennifer & husband Rob, Jessica, Loralie, Theresa & husband Brett, Tiana, Mikaela, Scott, Tatum & husband Ben, Ariel & husband Dustin; and twelve great grandchildren Trent, Chelsea, Breanna, Nathan, Nicholas, Larra, Zachary, Ronald, Leila, Grayson, Brady, Millie.

Don was an Aerospace Engineer working as an Avionics Manager for a Major Airline taking him on great adventures around the world. Typecast as a man that could get the job done he was sent on numerous missions and encountered many challenges that required positive thinking and ingenuity to get back home. Don’s stories are riveting and funny at the same time, usually ending in, “there’s no place like home.” He finished his career working for Nasa on the Space Shuttle program. While there, he was appointed by President Ronald Reagan to the Rodgers Commission to investigate the tragic loss of the Space Shuttle Challenger and all the Astronauts.

Don will be remembered as a wonderful man with a kind soul who left a positive impact on everyone he met in his 95 years of life. He will be greatly missed.
