Forever In the Hearts They Leave Behind

Doris Erna Stanke

February 13, 1927 – September 22, 2021


Doris Erna Stanke was born to the late John and Ida (Fenske) Leppke Feb 13, 1927 in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran church in rural Boyd, Minnesota.  She grew up on a farm and attended county school and the high school in Dawson, Minnesota. After graduating from high school she married Arthur Stanke. She spent her married life living in South Dakota and Colorado before moving to Mesa, AZ in 1978.

Her husband Arthur and daughters, Gladean Stanke and Judy Ann Stanke-DuTeil and great grandaughter Olivia Joy DuTeil preceded her in death. Survivors are a son David (and Rebecca) Stanke. She is also survived by grandchildren Claude (and Rachel) DuTeil the 3rd, Leilani DuTeil-Vandercook, Branden (and Camille) Kurreck, Katerina (and Ryan) Cleveland, Yelena Williams, and Ryker Stanke.

Doris is survived by 14 great grandchildren she dearly loved and felt blessed to have them living nearby. She also dearly loved those that called her Mom and the many that called her grandma although not blood related. She appreciated all the wonderful extended family that kept watch over her. May God Bless each one!

She worked for Phoenix Flower Shops for 39 years and really loved her work. She delivered flowers across the valley.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
