Dorothy Hannig, age 92, of Gilbert, AZ passed away peacefully on May 16, 2014 in Mesa, AZ. She was born on June 26, 1921 in Livingston, IL, the daughter of John and Edna Zorzie. She married her childhood sweetheart, Victor W. Hannig on October 18, 1941 and they lived in Chicago, Austin, TX and Grand Rapids, MI before moving to Arizona in 1994. Victor preceded her in death on April 2, 2011. Dorothy’s life centered around her family, she enjoyed, crafts, flowers, gardening and she cherished being a dog owner. She was also a hospital and library volunteer, volunteering much of her time at Highland High School library in Gilbert, AZ. She is survived by her children, Victor (Nancy), Kevin (Beth) and Sherry (Jim) Koerner; granddaughters, Holly Olsen (Jason) and Casey Hannig; grandsons, Kyle and Seth Koerner; two great-grandsons, Kaden and Rylan Olsen and two nieces and a nephew. She had a wonderful spirit, sense of humor and was very devoted to her children and grandchildren. Dorothy will be missed by her family, friends and caregivers. A celebration of her life will be held on May 28, 2014 at 7:00 pm with visitation at 6:00 pm at Mountain View Funeral Home, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, AZ.
