Dorothy Viola (Hough) Jones-Johnston, 88, died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, October 6, 2012, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on July 8, 1924 in Poland, OH and moved with her parents to Mesa in the 1940’s. She retired from Motorola and was a long-time Girl Scout Leader. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a charter member of Grace United Methodist Church in Mesa. Preceding her in death were her parents, Guy E. and Mildred Hough of Mesa and sister, Mary L. Huggins of Mesa. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Orville F. Jones and her second husband, Glenn Johnston. She is survived by her three daughters: Carolyn (Michael) McGinnis of Phoenix; Shirley (Linn) Brown of Hermitage, PA; and Peggy (Steve) Schafer of Chadwick, IL, three granddaughters: Valene (Bill) Faulkner of El Paso, TX; Mollie (Joe) Schiavo of Ahwatukee, AZ; and Kimi McGinnis of Phoenix and also a great-grandson, Willie Faulkner of El Paso, TX. A graveside service will be performed by “Coach” Carl Heath at Mountain View Cemetery, 7900 E. Main St., in Mesa at 3:00 pm Thursday October 11, 2012. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home (480-832-2850).
