Douglas Lee Benyshek, 81, from Mesa, Arizona was taken by the Lord on October 7, 2011 and is back together again with his beloved wife, Mary (deceased Dec. 20, 2003) in heaven. Doug was a long time member of Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mesa, AZ, where he had served the Lord as a deacon, a trustee, an usher and an all-around handyman from 1992 to 2006 when he suffered a disabling stroke that rendered him paralyzed on the left side. Doug was born and raised in Belleville, Kansas and was the son of Wesley and Mary (Kasha) Benyshek. Doug was a long time employee of Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, IA, and then for Motorola in Arizona. Doug had a total of 7 children. He had 3 children from a previous marriage with Marcella Vorheis, including Greg Benyshek, of CA, Bruce Benyshek, of MN (deceased Dec. 16, 2005), and Curtis Benyshek of Mesa, AZ. Doug then was joined in marriage Mary (Koehn) Hessenius on June 15, 1973 in Cedar Rapids, IA, she had 3 children from a previous marriage, Phillip Hessenius of Phoenix, AZ, Jeffery Hessenius of Mesa, AZ., Carol (Hessenius )Miller of Amarillo, TX. Doug and Mary’s daughter Sarah Benyshek resides in Missouri. Doug had a total of 6 grandchildren, Tyler, Jackie, Janae, Jordan, Joseph, Nicholas, and Katie. Doug is survived by his sisters Marcella (Cletus) Klein of Oxford, IA and Joann (Jim, deceased) Brown of North English, IA, and a brother Victor of Clarence, IA, along with many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Hosanna Lutheran Church, 9601 E. Brown Rd Mesa Az. Wed. Oct. 12, 2001 at 11:00 am. A visitation will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, AZ on Tues. Oct. 11, 2001 from 6-8 pm (480-832-2850).
