Dr. Arthur R. Roraff, 83, of Gilbert, AZ passed away on May 20, 2014. Born and raised in LaCrosse, WI, Art attended his beloved Aquinas High School before graduating from Loras College and Marquette University School of Dentistry. A pioneer in dentistry, Art was a charter fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists. His career in the Air Force included serving as special consultant to the surgeon general, and he retired a full colonel only to become the chief dental officer for the Department of Corrections in Alaska. If dentistry was his profession, baseball and photography were his passions. He cherished pitching in his early years and was a pitcher’s greatest fan through to his later ones. His photo of record-breaking floods in WI landed on the front page of the Milwaukee Journal. After retirement,Art graciously volunteered his dental skills to the clinic at St. Vincent de Paul for a decade. He is survived by his wife Rosalie, son Arthur Roraff, Jr. of Anchorage, AK, daughters Carrie (Robert) McIntyre of Casa Grande, AZ, Antonia (Matthew) Straley of Dearborn, MI and Jill Roraff of Palmer, AK; brothers Phillip (Judith) Roraff of LaCrosse, WI and Thomas (Martha Marberry) of College Station, TX, as well as seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Agatha (Brueggen) Roraff and daughter Camilla. A visitation will take place at Mountain View Funeral Home, 7900 E.
