Edward Alberto da Rosa, 58, passed away on October 25, 2021. Edward was born in Bayside New York in 1962 and spent his childhood throughout the East Coast. After high school he became a United States Marine and earned the rank of Sergeant. After his Honorable Discharge, Edward returned to Arizona and began a career in Software Engineering where he met his beloved wife of 36 years, Petia. In their early adult years, Edward and Petia enjoyed taking their children: Nathan, Jason, and Natalie, camping, flying kites, and playing chess. Over the course of their marriage, Edward generously opened his home and his heart to many more kids and young adults. Serving as a consistent father figure in many lives, Edward became lovingly known as “Uncle Dad”, which culminated in the addition of his second daughter, Mariah.  Outside of family, his greatest passions were traveling and photography. Other hobbies included racecars, karaoke, coffee, and independent education.  Edward’s mind was a repository of technical, historical, scientific, and amusing information that made it easy for him to connect with a variety of people.

In his career as a Software Engineer, Edward contributed to advancements in ultrasound and satellite communications. As a Staff Scientist for Comtech EF Data, he is remembered for his disposition, work ethic, and intellect. No matter what work demanded, Edward always made time to enjoy life, people, and loving his family. He was a talented man, mentor to many, who always saw the good in others, and never said no when someone was in need.  “Can’t” was not in Edward’s vocabulary; and like his father, he lived out this philosophy by assisting anyone to achieve their fullest potential.

Edward is survived by his wife, Petia; mother, Emilina; brother, Gerald; four children, Nathan, Jason (wife, Kate), Natalie (husband, Gabriel), Mariah (husband, Dylan); and five grandchildren, Adam, Genevieve, Gabriel Jr., Adaline, and Sofia.  Loved by many all over the United States, Edward will be greatly missed.

Services will be held on Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery. Address: 7900 E. Main St. Mesa, Arizona 85207. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Celebration of Life and internment will follow.
