Forever In the Hearts They Leave Behind

Edward H. McMains Jr.

November 15, 1952 – October 9, 2021

Edward H. McMains Jr., age 68, of Mesa, AZ and Mineral, WA went home to Heaven on October 09, 2021.  He was born on November 15, 1952 in Tacoma, WA. Ed was a loving husband to his wife Pamela for 49 years.  He was an amazing father to his children, Rachel Doolittle (Kevin), Angela Genz (Phil) and Kevin McMains (Jewel); and a devoted Papa to all 12 of his grandchildren and one great grandson. Ed is survived by his immediate family as well as his father Edward Sr, and his siblings Gary McMains (Sue), Debra Goldsby (Eric), Patty Esborg (Greg) and Laurie Landy (Kevin) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was welcomed home to Heaven by his mother Kay, many aunts, uncles and cousins that he loved dearly.  After retiring honorably from the US Army(20 years), he settled the family in Morton, WA.  There he began his 24 year career at Stericycle Inc.  After their children had grown and started their own lives, they moved to the town of Mineral, where Pam and Ed first met over 53 years ago.

Ed was an active member of the American Legion Post #171, serving many pancake breakfasts during opening weekend of fishing. He was a dedicated Mineral Lake Lion for over 20 years, where he rose to the rank of King Lion. Ed enjoyed running the “shack” at the campground and visiting with people as they checked in. He donated a great deal of his time to the Mineral Daily Bread Food Bank and was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel and St. Timothy Catholic churches.  After finally retiring, Ed and Pam became snowbirds.  They found a new home in Mesa, AZ, and began splitting their time between Mesa and Mineral.  They were a very active couple at the Good Life retirement community, where they enjoyed playing cards, dancing and rangering, and welcoming new friends in to the park.  Ed enjoyed spending time with his brother Gary in AZ now that they had both retired.  He also enjoyed helping out his neighbors and was always ready to help whenever he was needed.  Ed was an incredible man who will be missed by many. The family will be having a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Mineral Daily Bread Food Bank would be appreciated.
