Eleanor “Ellie” Meighan, 85, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, in Surprise, Arizona. Born on January 26, 1940, in Stockton, Illinois, Ellie lived a life marked by devotion—to her family, her faith, and her lifelong profession.
A graduate of beauty school, Ellie dedicated over six decades to her career as a beautician. Her commitment to her craft was matched only by the warmth and kindness she extended to those who sat in her chair. With a beautiful smile and a kind spirit, she touched countless lives through both her work and her presence.
Ellie was deeply rooted in her Christian faith. She practiced her beliefs daily and was an active member of her church community. Her unwavering service to the Lord and His church reflected the peace she carried in life and the assurance she held for eternity.
She found joy in simple pleasures—taking walks with her beloved dog Chloe, Wii bowling, sharing meals at some her favorite restaurants, and spending cherished moments with family and friends. These everyday joys were made special by Ellie’s gentle nature and the love she gave so freely.
Ellie is survived by Don, her husband of 66 years; their four children—Kirk (Sally), Darwin (Linda), Loralee, and Ty (Donna), eight grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and her sister Roberta Sluiter. She was preceded in death by her father Marvel Schrader, mother Mae Otte, and three brothers – Orlo Schrader, Don Schrader, and Bob Schrader.
A woman loved by everyone who knew her, Ellie leaves behind a legacy of grace, faithfulness, and quiet strength. May her memory bring comfort to all who were blessed to share in her life. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 14, 2025, at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7900 East Main Street, Mesa, Arizona. Viewing begins at 9:30 am. Celebration of Life Service to follow at 10:30 am.
My deepest condolences to Don and the family. May God comfort you in this time of loss.

Ellie was a very special lady and Don as well 💐. She will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you Don and the rest of the families🙏🙏🙏 Sorry we will miss the service we are in Wyoming
God’s arms welcomed her home. God’s arms are around you and the family as you grieve her passing but rejoice that she is home waiting for you with her arms open wide. May God’s peace rest upon you until you see her again.
We didn’t know her for a long time, but ahe was very friendly and welcoming to us. Amazing that she continued to “do hair” into her 80s. We were privileged to attend an anniversary celebration–was it 50 or 60 years? The love between Ellie and Don was very evident, as was their love for the Lord and His church.
My heart is breaking for you all. Heaven got another beautiful Angel . Sending hugs and prayers …
I am so sorry to hear of her passing. I worked with Eleanor at Mesa Christian until her retirement. She was loved by all! Sending love and condolences to you all!!

So Sorry for your loss. She was the most giving person I knew. She will be missed. I worked with here for years. I still have the OVE Gloves she gave me “To clean up the hot mess’ @ work. She always made me smile.
Oh how I loved my time when Eleanor came in for her hair day with me. My name is Suzie Riggs and I am so grateful for the time and years that I was privileged to know her. Her beautiful spirit, love, and positive attitude radiated her. She was such a beautiful lady inside and out and when she called me to tell me she was sick and would be moving to Surprise to be closer to family, I knew it was where she needed to be. May God bless you all. She will be so missed. Love and sympathy, Suzie
Dearest Darwin and Linda – It is so hard to say goodbye to someone so dear and precious , but I’m praying that knowing she is with Jesus and that you will see her again brings you comfort and peace. May wonderful memories of her bless you and the family. Love and prayers
To Darwin and family,
