Elsie Evelyn Hodge, 90, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on December 6, 2010 following a brief illness. She was born on April 5, 1920 in South Bend, Indiana to Rene & Emma (Willie) Versmesse. On February 26, 1938 in South Bend, Indiana, she married Russell L. Hodge, who preceded her in death. They were married for 69 years. In 1973, with her late husband, she moved to Mesa, Arizona. Elsie was a loving wife, mother, homemaker and friend. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brother Hank Versmesse, & great-grandson Robert Melton III. She is survived by her four children, Sue Ann (Fred) Carlson of Osceola, IN, Judy (Dennis) Manges of Mesa, AZ, James (Gwen) Hodge of Phoenix, AZ, and Roy (Teri) Hodge of Irving, TX, 8 grand-children, and 9 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law Lucy Hodge, & Joy (Frank) Huddleson. She was a member of the Postal Service Women’s Auxiliary in South Bend, Indiana, & a member of Velda Rose United Methodist Church, Mesa, AZ. Visitation will be take place at Mountain View Funeral Home, 7900 E. Main Street, Mesa, Arizona on December 11, 2010 from 8:00 – 10:00 AM followed by a Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elsie’s name to a charity of choice.
