Eugene David Fritz recently passed away at the age of 78. He had been residing in Mesa, AZ since his retirement and relocation from Goose Lake, IL in 2005. He left this earth to be with Jesus on 09/14/2021.
Gene was born in Joliet, Illinois in 1943 to Eugene and Frances (Stariha) Fritz, now deceased. He was an only child. Gene married Laura (Clifford) Fritz, in 1984. He was a Local 176 Union Electrician for over 40 years, having served as their Business Agent from 1977-1983. He loved working hard for his family, spending time with them, boating, and fishing. He attended Joliet schools and joined the Navy when he was 17 to see the world. He was in the blockade during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Gene is survived by his spouse of 37 years, Laura (Clifford) Fritz; children, David Fritz of Plainfield, IL, Aimee Morton (Fritz) and husband Gary of Erie, CO, Cary Fritz and wife Jennifer (Vaughn) of Apache Junction, AZ., Jason Fritz and wife Caroline (Caverly) of Scottsdale, AZ, and Cody Fritz of Mesa, AZ. Gene was blessed with nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian Fritz of Joliet.
Funeral arrangements are being made by Mountain View Funeral Home in Mesa, Az. Gene’s wishes were to be buried in the Veteran’s National Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ. There will be a short service at the Veteran’s Cemetery prior to burial Wednesday, September 22, 1:00 PM. A memorial party will be held in Scottsdale, immediately following the service.
Phil & I are saddened to hear of Gene’s passing. He will be missed by many. RIP Gene.
