Evelyn Teich passed away on Wednesday, April  9, 2025 at Eternal Spring Assisted Living in Gilbert, AZ.

Evelyn Ann was born on January 23, 1932 in Sandstone, MN, to Martin and Margaret Rypkema.  She attended Sandstone High School where she graduated with the class of 1950.  She worked at the Pine City hospital  during summer months while in high school where she met her future husband.  In August of 1950, she was united in marriage to Ernest Teich of Pine City where they made their home.

Evelyn worked at the Coca -Cola  plant, the Sinclair Station and Selective service.  For many years she worked at the courthouse with Pine County Social Services in the welfare department, eventually becoming a supervisor in the department of Human Services.  She was active in Zion Lutheran Church, Pine City, MN, playing piano for Sunday School, singing in the choir, and  was an active  member of the LWML

When Evelyn and Ernie retired, they moved to Arizona where she enjoyed playing shuffleboard, golf, taking road trips, reading novels, playing 500 or Bridge, singing in a community choir, and hosting gatherings of family and friends.  She was especially delighted in seeing her grandchildren play musical instruments or play card games with her.  They traveled to many states including Hawaii as well as to Europe and Canada.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ernest, and three siblings, Shirley, Betty and Wallace, and her son, Kevin.

She is survived by her children Sheri (Bob), and Jeffrey (Gabriele), and daughter-in-law Victoria;  by her grandchildren – Andrew (Jennifer),  Jaime (Rudy), Ryan (Dan), Lara, Louis,  and one great-grandchild, Ryden.

A Christian graveside burial will take place at Mountain View Cemetery, Mesa AZ  April 25th, 2025 where she will be interred next to Ernest.  A Celebration of Life will take place in Gilbert AZ in June.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to her church, Eternal Life Lutheran, Mesa, AZ;  St.Mary’s Food Bank, Phoenix, AZ; St. Vincent de Paul, Phoenix, AZ; Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest, Phoenix, AZ., or to a food bank of donor’s choice.
