Fay R. Wilcox

November 10, 1934 – November 20, 2020


Fay R. Wilcox was born 10 November, 1934 in Clough, South Dakota.  He was the ninth child out of eleven; born to Winford O. and Ilene (Galligan) Wilcox.  In 1953, he married the love of his life, Lenda Gay Metts, in New Mexico. They had three children, Janice, Sandra and Michael.

Fay grew up in South Dakota, worked in the oil fields in New Mexico, Texas, California and Nevada.  In 1970, he went to work for Kennecott Copper Mine in McGill, Nevada where he was a ball maker.  In 1984, he moved to Arizona and worked construction until he retired.  In 1991, they moved to Apache Junction, AZ  and when he got bored with retirement he went to work for Southwest Ambulance picking up paperwork all over the valley until they went digital; it was his favorite job.

He is proceeded in death by son, Michael Wilcox; parents, Winford and Ilene Wilcox; brothers, Warren, Lloyd, Paul, Elmer, George, Gordon Wilcox; sisters, Ida Peterson, Ruth Thompson and Ruby Purcell.

Fay in survived by his wife, of almost 67 years, Lenda Wilcox; daughters, Janice (Wayne) Hunsaker of Colorado and Sandy (Dave) Eastwood of Nevada; grandchildren, Lelanya Hunsaker of Germany,  Justin Hunsaker of Arizona,  Derrick (Rachel) Mariluch of North Carolina,  Lacie Mariluch of Nevada  and two great grandchildren, Trent and Davin and his sister, Cora Rottenbutcher.

Graveside services will be held at a later date in Ely, Nevada where Fay will be buried next to his son, Michael.

Mountain View Funeral & Cemetery of Mesa, Arizona are entrusted with the arrangements.
