Florence Rita Kusek went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 30, 2016 in Mesa Arizona at the age of 95. She was born into life on April 24, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Frances Kosirog. She attended Tuley High School in Chicago and continued her education at Mesa Community College.
On January 30, 1944, Florence married the love of her life Casimir Jacob Kusek and the couple were blessed with three children. The family moved from Chicago to Mesa in 1962. Florence was a long time resident of Mesa and worked for the Mesa Police Department for 17 years before retiring in 1983. She was an active member of Christ The King Catholic Church until her health began to fail.
Her passion for life revolved around family, gardening, and reading the newspaper. Florence was an incredible cook and worked for hours preparing special dishes. She devoted her time and energy as a caregiver to many friends and family members including her husband until he passed away at age 76.
Left to remember Florence is her loving sister Theresa, son and daughter and their spouses, Michael (Jenny), Geri (Steve), grandchildren, Lisa, Daniel, Christopher and Elizabeth, great- grandchildren, Dylan and Brody plus many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed but we rejoice knowing that she is home with her Lord and Savior and reunited with her family and so many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Casimir; youngest daughter, Judy; brother, Joe Kosirog; sisters, Eleanor Foronda and Jean Gurnicz.
The visitation will begin and 9:00 AM on Wednesday July 6, 2016 at Mountain View Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM with Father Pinti officiating. The interment and reception will follow the service at Mountain View.
