Frank VanOrman Clark Jr

Frank was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Frank VanOrman Clark and Mary Moesser Clark on February 7, 1936.

Frank passed away quietly with family beside him on April 29, 2025, he was 89 yrs old. He is survived by his wife of 62yrs, Janiel Moesser Clark, Scott Clark(son), Janae Gomez(daughter), Mark Gomez(son in law), Jason Clark(son), Tanya Clark(daughter in law), Jeremy Clark(son), Cali Clark(daughter in law), 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, Janice Mackey(sister), Vallene Hughes(sister in law), Kevin Moesser(brother in law), Cathy Moesser(sister in law) and many nieces and nephews.

He went to Cyprus High School in Magna Utah. Frank served a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Montana and served two years as a Private First Class United States Army. He then enrolled at Brigham Young University and received a Bachelor’s in Education in 1965. He met Janiel and were married August 31, 1962 in the Manti, Utah Temple. His first job was a Seminary Teacher at West High School in Salt Lake City, it was very challenging for him and he didn’t like it as much as he hoped he would. He next found a teaching job in Superior, Arizona and moved his family there in 1969. He taught Geography and Social Studies, which he loved, and sponsored a Chess and Checker club after school. Over the years he would switch back and forth a couple of times from Roosevelt Jr High to Kennedy Elementary School. 6Th grade was his favorite. In 1985 he received his Masters in Education from Arizona State University. After he retired he found another part time job he loved at Rio Salado College in Mesa and taught and wrote curriculum for them in the computer lab. He kept this job to pay for all their trips around the world.

Frank and Janiel served a “couples” mission for the Church in the Mexico City South Mission. Frank taught himself some conversational Spanish by listening to tapes and putting post it notes on everything in the house. He was able to get around Mexico even with his limited Spanish. After they returned home He went back to Rio Salado College and traveled back to Mexico and Guatemala and visited all the Mayan Ruins. They also traveled to China, Peru and Jerusalem.

Funeral services will be held Saturday 05/10/2025 at 10:00am. There will be a 45 minute viewing before the funeral starting at 9:00am. Services will be at the Signal Butte Ward Building at 618 S. Signal Butte Road, Mesa AZ 85207. Internment will be at Mountain View Funeral Home and

Cemetery, 7900 East Main Street, Mesa AZ 85207.

    Frank, is my Brother.We had good times in Hunter uTAH. oUR GRAND MOTHER , MARTHA MOESSER, AN MOST OF OUR RELATIVES LIVED ON 5600 WEST. iT WAS A GOOD LIFE. FRANK HAD MANY FRIENDS. I AM SO SORRY I CAN NOT MAKE THE TRIP TO THE FUNERAL,I AM 92 AND NOT IN GOOD SHAPE. I WILL BE THINKING OF FRANK AND HIS FAMILY. LOVE JANICE.

    My condolences to the Clark family..Mr Clark taught me many yrs ago in superior I think I was his second yr. In superior maybe first. I get a memory of Mr. Clark asking all of us kids to help him pick a name for one of his kids as his wife was pregnant and ready to have their baby. He was a well respected man around superior..rest in peace Mr. Clark.

    I deeply saddened by Mr. Clark’s passing. He was my 7 grade teacher at Roosevelt School. He taught history and geography back then. I can still see him in his short sleeve dress shirt with a tie on. He was very kind teacher and kind man. I remember him always being fit and had great smile too. My deepest condolences to his family 🙏🏽
